Qualitative

involves analysis of data such as words, pictures, or objects (descriptive). It tends to be subjective because the data can be observed but not measured. Examples include colors, textures, smells, and tastes.


Quantitative

involves analysis of data such as numbers and statistics. It tends to be more objective because the data can be measured. Examples include length, height, area, temperature, time, etc.


Quantitative Precipitation Forecast (QPF)

a forecast of precipitation amount specifically in depth units (e.g., inches)


Quasi-stationary (QSTNRY)

nearly stationary


Quiescent

still, at rest, dormant, or inactive. Quiescent conditions might include weak or calm winds and clear skies.
