Fig. 3 A sample set of data is shown to the right. For this figure, cup1 (upper left most cup in the plot) was used as a reference, and the wind speed difference relative to cup1 was calculated for all other cups. A histogram of the residual errors is shown in Figure 3 for all 18 cups. The cups are numbered starting with 1 in the upper left and proceeding to the right (this corresponds to the same location as in the field). Therefore, cup number 6 has a mean of -0.027956. Cups 8 and 16 (position 3,1 and 5,2 using matrix notation) have bad data because of a communication problem and should be ignored.
Note: The numbers on each figure are the first three moments of the distribution (e.g., mean, variance, and skewness of the histogram for (cup 2 - cup 1) is -.016199, 0.0055575, and -0.00012077 respectively). The data shown are 5 minute running averages using 5 days of data.
