Oklahoma Mesonet Weather Camp 

Weather camp offers a week long residential program designed to expose students to the science of meteorology, weather, forecasting, and career opportunities. The National Weather Center  (NWC) will be home base for this camp, and campers will have the opportunity to tour the facility, including the Oklahoma Mesonet instrumentation facilities, NOAA's Storm Prediction Center, a National Weather Service Forecast Office, and NOAA's Science on a Sphere display. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in field excursions that will include a visit to an Oklahoma City TV station's weather center and interaction with meteorologists and students from the University of Oklahoma's School of Meteorology.

Lead instructors will be meteorologists from the Oklahoma Mesonet and an outstanding retired middle school teacher. Students will have opportunities to interact with other NWC scientists as well as undergraduate and graduate meteorology students.

Students will not participate in any storm chasing activities. 

The camp is limited to 20 students who have completed 6th, 7th, or 8th grade by June 1, 2012.
